11 Lessons: Embracing Gratitude and Fearlessness After Surviving Death

I know many of these are simple and have been said for decades before me and I am so grateful for the words of wisdom of ones before me, so here are 11 things that almost dying and waking up with brand new lungs has taught me:

  1. Know who your friends are. They can make or break you.
  2. Don’t take even a single second for granted. Or a single breath.
  3. Live in the now, it’s literally all you have for sure.
  4. Fight with all you’ve got! It’s all you’ve got.
  5. Live every moment as if it’s your last. It very well could be.
  6. Be fearless and don’t worry too much. Worry doesn’t change a thing!
  7. Don’t assume people understand your fight, they probably don’t and never will.
  8. Appreciate your senses: sight, hearing, taste, smell, touch. You never know when you might lose them.
  9. Be grateful for every little thing. Everything single little thing. Always.
  10. Say “I Love You” every chance you get and ALWAYS take a hug.
  11. Never, ever, take life too seriously. Nobody actually makes it out of here alive anyway.
